Project Brief:

Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA), with the Department of Municipalities & Transport’s Al Dhafra Region Municipality (DRM), is providing infrastructure and internal roads for new lands in Baya Sila’a, Al Dhafrah Region.

AE was assigned to design the project’s streetscape, covering both soft and hardscape across the new development’s internal road network as it advances through construction.

Design Concept:

The design concept draws on the linear and diagonal patterns of Mashrabiya, a geometric motif especially prominent in UAE culture, to shape the streetscape’s overall visual language.

Strips of gravel set between softscape areas make the Mashrabiya-inspired pattern more visible and clearly defined, reinforcing the concept across the length of the streetscape.
