Project Brief:

Al Dhafra Region Municipality (DRM), with Abu Dhabi Housing Authority (ADHA), initiated infrastructure and internal roads for Madinat Zayed Sector 20 & 22, with Aldar Properties as employer.

AE International was appointed to design the landscape scope, including review and revalidation of the previous design plus softscape, hardscape, and furniture per the latest authority standards.

Design Concept:

The design draws on the linear and diagonal patterns of Mashrabiya, a geometric motif widely used across the UAE and MENA region, symbolizing cultural continuity and a sense of infinity.

Geometrical and linear patterns give the streetscape an attractive, engaging character while using a standard material palette that promotes easier installation compared with organic forms.
