Project Brief:

DEWA planned a Stage 1 Aquifer Storage & Recovery scheme to secure emergency potable water supply in eastern Dubai, following groundwater studies that identified feasible ASR locations ahead of a future industrial-scale well field.

Design and supervision of the above-ground components were carried out under appointment by Dornier Consulting, covering transmission pipelines, distribution networks, pumping stations, reservoirs and dual-purpose recovery and observation wells.

Design Concept:

The Stage 1 facilities were designed for full integration into the later industrial-scale ASR project, combining wellfield infrastructure with a SCADA system, hydraulic design calculations and power distribution.

Supporting site infrastructure included an access road, a containerised home office, workshop and store, a containerised diesel generator set, and soil investigation to confirm ground conditions.
